Grass Tree Root - Xanthorrhaea preissii Grass Tree Root is a lily and not a tree. The root is woody, light brown in colour with a greenish hue when first cut, darkening to red brown. It is speckled all the way through with black dots. They are usually wet inside, but unlike wet/ green timber the drying process has little if any effect, on the finished article. Grass Tree Roots are fairly soft and easy to turn, however the dust is an irritant. Employ appropriate dust control/ protection.
