Purpleheart - Brazilian - Peltogyne spp
There are 20 species of this genus occurring throughout the Tropical America to Brazil, and in the West Indies. The Heartwood is a dull brown on first cutting but on exposure it becomes an intense purple or violet colour. A favourite for many turners, it turns well and takes a good finish.
